The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure Development supported the bill to prohibit placement of advertising media within the easement of public roads.
This was reported by the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister Valery Voschevsky.
As stated in the explanatory note to the bill, at present, there are more than 6000 advertising media along public roads, and 75% of them were installed in violation of applicable regulatory acts.
According to a survey conducted by the Department of STI of the MIA of Ukraine, 82% of respondents said that outdoor advertising distracts them from driving.
"The changes apply only to public roads outside settlements. That is law is needed to improve safety on the roads, and from an aesthetic point of view. In addition, it is a requirement of international law, in particular the European Agreement on Main International Railway prohibiting billboards on the sides of international roads" – Voschevsky said.
According to the bill, legally established advertising media will be dismantled only after the expiry of permits.
