A Ukrainian tried to move tobacco products from Ukraine to Hungary through the "green corridor". He decided to cross the border at the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs offices. He arrived to the post by a car "VW PASSAT" with Ukrainian registration.
During the oral interview, the citizen said that he was not concealing anything from customs control and was not carrying any forbidden items.
However, during the customs control of the car and the Ukrainian’s belongings, they found tobacco products hidden from customs control: 490 packs of cigarettes "Rothmans" with excise stamps of Ukraine.
The tobacco products were hidden in a specially made cavity in the fuel tank of the car. In order to find them, customs officers had to use special tools, to dismantle the rear passenger seat, to remove the metal plate that covered the opening between the interior and the bottom of the car.
The Ukrainian confirmed that the cigarettes belonged to him and said that he was trying to smuggle tobacco products to make some money.
These actions, namely an attempt to move the cigarettes across the customs border of Ukraine, hiding them from customs control, using a specially made hiding place, have signs of violation of customs regulations specified in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the car "VW PASSAT" made in 1992 costing more than 86,700 UAH and the tobacco products that cost 6,370 UAH have been confiscated.
