The Forum of the Carpathian Euroregion has started in the regional center of Transcarpathia

With the general meeting of the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies “Euroregion Carpathians-Ukraine” which was held in Uzhgorod city council. 
 The meeting attended by more than half a hundred representatives of local self-government bodies of Transcarpathian, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi regions was chaired by the head of the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies "Euroregion Carpathians-Ukraine", the chairman of the Lviv regional council Oleksandr Hanushchyn. Oleksandr Hanushchyn reminded that there is the government Program for the development of the Ukrainian Carpathians for 2010-2020, but this issue is very complicated, especially in view of the state budget draft, which does not provide for the necessary 2 billion hryvnias. That is why the participants of today’s meeting voted for a number of appeals. In particular, to the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Parliament – on financing of the State Program for the Development of the Ukrainian Carpathian Region for 2010-2022. It was noted that "there is a threat that the adopted program will not be supported with any financial resources and instead of real development projects, mountain areas will receive only promises." Therefore, the members of the Association ask the government to “provide in the state budget a separate article “Projects for the development of mountain territories" in the amount of 2 billion hryvnias, which will contribute to the implementation of state guarantees for the support of socio-economic development of mountain areas, which, along with the use of regional opportunities and resources, will ensure growth and development of currently depressed territories." Another appeal concerned the co-financing of international technical assistance projects. The participants of the meeting heard reports on the status and prospects of the Carpathian Communities Initiative Support Program; implementation of educational, cultural and media exchanges between institutions of Lviv and Luhansk regions within the program "Let’s change the country together". They also discussed new grant opportunities for the Carpathian region communities, analyzed how the Carpathian Regional Development Network project is being implemented. After the meeting, the participants of the meeting went to the Bozdosh Park, where they reviewed how the project of the Carpathian Community Initiatives Support Program "Conservation and Promotion of Uzhgorod Park Zones" is being implemented. Today the Forum will continue with the conference "Carpathian Historical and Cultural Heritage: Instruments for Supporting Projects in the Field of Promotion of Territories and Increasing Their Tourist Attractiveness", which will be held at the premises of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Regional Council at Narodna Square, 4.
