In Chaslivtsi in Uzhgorod district, the first in Transcarpathia and in Ukraine village workshop for the production of solar collectors was presented and the first mobile solar collector produced in the workshop was launched. The opening of this workshop is a joint project of the Association of economist students of Transcarpathia, Chaslivtsi village council and Kosice Agency for the Support of Regional Development (Slovakia).
In Chaslivtsi, residents can make a solar collector themselves with the help of professionals. 18 such collectors have already been made, they will be installed on administrative buildings and educational institutions. Lesya Nosenko, the coordinator of the project "SUNRISE – Sustainable use of natural resources by small businesses" told more about the unusual initiative "The purpose of the project is to encourage people, the general public, business to use alternative energy. Our project lasted three years and in December reached the final stage. On December 16th, we opened the workshop for the manufacture of solar panels in the village of Chaslivtsi. Before its launch, we reconstructed the club, bought the necessary equipment and conducted practical trainings on making of solar collectors. We invite participants to meet and try to make solar collectors themselves," – Lesya Nosenko said.
Yaroslav Patsarnyuk, energy auditor, helped to select the technology which would make it possible to produce solar collectors in rural areas. "The ultimate goal of the project is to make a workshop for the production of solar collectors in the countryside. We did it. Chaslivtsi is located in the latitudes where solar energy can cover the demand in heat and electricity. We simplified the technology to the point that it can be applied in rural environment, bought expensive equipment. We also needed a device to test the quality of solar collectors. We have designed the device which allows to check the efficiency of the solar collector. With the workshop and this device, solar panels can be produced in a village. Having 7 kW of solar installation per 1 sq.m. a day, the collector owner can have 3 kW of useful heat energy per day" – Yaroslav Patsarnyuk says.
The event was held under the project "SUNRISE – Sustainable use of natural resources by small businesses", grant agreement №HUSKROUA/1101/201 with the financial support of the European Union ENPI Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013.
