The first sign of spring is already in Uzhgorod!

Although the Meteorological Center forecasts that the real spring is again delayed and the warm season should be expected only in May, Transcarpathia knows for sure: spring is near!

In the regional center, on Gagarin street the first magnolia has bloomed. zakarpatpost.net shared the good news with all readers.

There are evergreen magnolias that grow in southern Ukraine and enjoy a warmer climate, and deciduous magnolias – Uzhgorod magnolias belong to the most northerly kind of deciduous magnolias that can grow all over Ukraine.

The first magnolia blossomed in a private house on Gagarin street. Others will be pleasing the eye with their flowering later. People will be able to admire them for more than a week, since the average period of flowering for this species of magnolia is 10-15 days.

To note: Now there are about 70 species of magnolias in the world, but breeders continue to breed new varieties. The name of this tree is derived from the name of Charles Magnol, the director of the Paris Botanical Garden, who was the first to breed magnolias.
