The financing for TB control will have to be increased

The deputies of the Regional Council are proposed to amend the Program of TB control in the region in 2012-2016.

UAH 6.8 million is provided to finance the activities under the Program in the current year. According to the press service of the Regional Council, the reasons that led to the need for these amendments are the dynamic situation with TB in the region, the prevalence of chemoresistant forms of the disease.

According to the Chairman of the Regional Council, amending the measures of this Program will allow to timely provide health care facilities with necessary supplies, diagnostic reagents, medical products, which in turn will ensure proper level of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of TB in the region and, ultimately, will improve the implementation of measures to combat tuberculosis.

– I am convinced that the implementation of the Program activities and their full funding will allow to actually improve the prevention of TB, deaths from TB and its spread, to improve early detection and diagnosis of the disease and ensure effective treatment at all stages. And, of course, it will contribute to the stabilization of the epidemic situation in the region and reduction of economic losses from this disease. The total amount of financial resources for the activities under the Program is UAH 33.6 million, – the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis concluded.

By the way, in terms of tuberculosis incidence, Ukraine ranks second among EU countries.
