The family will not be evicted from the apartment in the center of Uzhgorod

The story of attempts to evict the Panusov family from their own home in Uzhgorod had a happy ending for the family – the Court of Appeal confirmed that they live in their home legally.
It was reported that during the term of Victor Pogorelov, officials of Uzhgorod City Council, in court, tried to evict the family – husband and wife and their two daughters, one of whom is a minor – from their home at Zamkova st., 2/2. The position of Uzhgorod City Hall was that since the main tenant died, the flat has become the property of Uzhgorod City Council.

The Panusov family argued that they had always lived in this house. According to Serhiy Panusov, the City Hall officials would not delve into their situation.

The lawsuit dragged on for years, and in November 2013, Uzhgorod city and district court judge 
Olesya Lemak decided that the apartment should belong not to the family, but to the city council.
However, in March 2014, judge of the Transcarpathian Court of Appeal H.Fazykosh denied the claim 
of Uzhgorod city council. That is, the court de facto acknowledged that the Panusov family lived in 
their home legally.
Uzhgorod City Council did not file a cassation appeal against the decision of the court of appeal. "We 
have always believed that the apartment should belong to the family – the newly appointed 
administrator of Uzhgorod city hall Oleksandr Volosyansky said. – Therefore, there is no sense to 
challenge the decision of the Court of Appeal."

At the last meeting of members of Uzhgorod city hall, they gave Panusovs the permission to prepare 
documents for the privatization of the apartment.
