Today, the artistic director and conductor of the leading music collective – the Transcarpathia academic chamber choir "Cantus", People’s Artist of Ukraine, honorary citizen of Uzhgorod, Emil Sokach turns 60 years old. The mayor Bohdan Andriyiv congratulated the outstanding artistic figure on the anniversary, presented the diploma for many years of diligent work, high professionalism and a significant personal contribution to the development of musical art, wished new creative achievements, success and prosperity, the press service of the city council informs.
The chamber choir "Cantus" is known not only in our city but also far beyond the region – it is the winner of international competitions, participant of festivals and forums abroad – in Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, Great Britain, etc. The repertoire of the choir includes spiritual music, Renaissance music, Ukrainian folk songs, works by Ukrainian composers, carols, jazz compositions, etc.
