The Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II was celebrated in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

Traditionally, the celebration began at the monument "Ukraine – to liberators", near the Ukrainian-Slovak border, where representatives of the local authorities, veterans’ organizations, heads of law enforcement and regulatory agencies honored the victims of the World War II, the press service of Uzhgorod City council informs. The celebrations continued with laying flowers to the monument "To volunteers of Transcarpathia – World War II veterans" on the ​​Cyril and Methodius Square.
At the Hill of Glory, hundreds of countrymen came to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. 
The head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration Hennadiy Moskal, the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis, Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv laid flowers on the graves of the Transcarpathian soldiers killed in the ATO in the east of Ukraine and to the Eternal Fire. 
In the memory of the fallen, they observed a minute of silence.
