The Czech Republic has increased quotas for workers from Ukraine

Local employers say they are interested in employing Ukrainians

The Czech Republic has adjusted quotas for the admission of foreign workers for individual countries. In addition, the government has reduced the number of program types for foreign workers – from six to three, the Ceske Noviny writes.

Changes have also affected labor migrants from Ukraine – their number in the Czech Republic may increase. Thus, now 40,000 Ukrainians per year can be employed in this country. Previously, the quota for Ukrainians was 19.6 thousand workers.

"Employers were most interested in workers from Ukraine because of their linguistic and cultural affinity. The quota has been increased manyfold," – the Czech authorities explained.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, about 3.2 million Ukrainians work abroad. Most Ukrainian workers are working in Poland, Russia and Germany.
