Two-week-long, May 15 to 29, with numerous exhibitions, presentations, performances and many other events, the SlobodaKult festival started today in Uzhgorod.
According to the co-founder and co-organizer Olga Sagaidak, this is the 4th initiative of cultural exchange between different regions of Ukraine.
The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk, who came at the opening of the SlobodaKult in Uzhgorod, said that it was one of the most important projects that "gives Ukrainians an opportunity to know Ukraine, to know themselves, to overcome stereotypes."
According to the minister, the events of the festival will allow to learn about the entire intellectual, industrial development of Ukraine. At the beginning of the last century, a burst of the avant-garde and constructivism art occurred in Kharkiv. This region has survived the tragedy of the Holodomor, Executed Renaissance. "It is through culture that we can build a bridge that no aggressor would destroy," – Yevhen Nyshchuk said.
The exhibition of artists from Slobozhanshchyna is presented in the "Owl’s Nest", and today the exhibition "Family Album" also opened in Uzhgorod on Nezalezhnist embankment, another exhibition will be opened today in the "ILKO" gallery, there will be a public interview with writers Serhiy Zhadan and Yevhen Polozhii in the "Owl’s Nest" and the concert of the radio "Aphrodite" on Teatralna Square.
In total, about 100 events will take place (20 meetings and discussions, 15 concerts and performances, 15 film screenings with discussions, 9 exhibitions, one fashion show and the "Skovorodafest" festival for the whole family), they will be attended by about 150 participants, the press service of Uzhgorod City Council reminds.
