The Court of Appeal upheld the amount of bail in the amount of UAH 15.5 million for a drug dealer from Transcarpathia

On August 3, 2018, the Lviv Regional Court of Appeal upheld the position of the military prosecutor’s office in the western region of Ukraine and left unchanged the pre-trial restraint in the form of custody for a resident of Transcarpathia suspected of producing and sale of opium with the possibility of being released on bail in amount of UAH 15.5 million, the press service of the military prosecutor’s office of the western region of Ukraine informed.

In particular, the court refused to accept the arguments of the defense and denied the appeal, leaving the decision of the Halytsky district court in the city of Lviv dd. July 20, 2018 unchanged.

Recall that during April-July 2018, the prosecutor’s office of the region documented multiple facts of manufacturing and sale of 3.5 liters of opium extraction by the specified drug dealer. During the special operation, a total of 7.5 liters of opium extraction – 150 thousand doses of the drug worth about UAH 15 million – was seized.

The special operation to catch the members of the organized group was conducted by the investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Office of the National Police in Lviv region, together with the operational staff of the Drug Enforcement Department.
