In May this year, the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region convicted the former director of Uzhgorod airport for the administrative violation of current legislation on protection of state secrets.
In late 2015, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region during a special inspection recorded a number of violations of the rules of secret document keeping and storage of classified information at the regional municipal enterprise "Uzhgorod Airport".
In 2014, the then head of the airport had already been brought to justice for similar administrative violations. But the official did not eliminate the revealed shortcomings, instead he committed new violations and created real conditions for a possible leak of classified information.
As a result of the special expertise, access to state secrets for the then director of the airport was withdrawn, and the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region about the facts of systematic violations of administrative legislation on protection of state secrets at Uzhgorod airport in late 2015 were sent to the court.
