The project, which was made possible by the support of Europe, is the first of its kind in Transcarpathia and the regional authorities hope that not the last
The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal, during a working visit in Beregovo district, examined the construction of a waste recycling plant in the village of Yanoshi. The work is in full swing.
Mykola Yakymets, the General Director of the "Bereg Vertical" LLC – the company which is responsible for construction of the plant and is engaged in solid waste management in the district – showing the territory, told: the planned capacity of the project is up to thirty thousand tons of garbage a year. At the waste sorting plant in the village of Yanoshi, they plan to bring the amount of recyclable waste to 80 percent. Overall, the project is designed for 80 years and aims not only to contribute to making Beregovo district cleaner, but also to create jobs and bring revenues to local budget. Its importance in addressing problems of illegal dumps, fouling of roadsides and river channels is invaluable.
The first phase of the sorting line is to be completed by the end of the year, and the next stage is a landfill for disposal of unrecyclable waste. Its design area is 100 to 115 meters, and the format provides for seven levels of protection system. It is planned to produce biogas from the landfill which will be used to generate electricity for the village.

The construction is carried out with the assistance and material support of the project number 1001/011 of the Crossborder Cooperation Programme ENPI Hungary – Slovakia – Romania – Ukraine. The main activities of the project is the construction of the first stage of the mechanical solid waste management plant with the capacity of 20 thousand tons per year (experts estimate that every resident of Beregovo district annually produces about 265 kg of waste), as well as the purchase and installation of 70 points of separate waste collection in Beregovo district. The planned capacity of the project is up to thirty thousand tons of garbage a year.
