"You can not do anything willfully and contrary to the city’s community opinion under the pretext of honoring the Heaven’s Hundred. This must me stopped and there will be no exceptions, otherwise there will the heap of initiatives, and it is not good for the city," – Victor Shchadey said at the meeting of the Executive Committee commenting the known fact concerning the establishment of a cross and the intention of building a place of worship there.
They say that they did not grant permission to do so, and any steps should be made according to the due process – with the project, competition and public debate. By the way, the city government continues to accept propositions for commemorating of the Heaven’s Hundred, and has decided to name Heaven’s Hundred street – instead of Uralska. And the Heroes of the Maidan park (at the corner of Rákóczi and Dovzhenko streets, known as the park near the SSU).
The discussion continue – an activist in the audience, who did not inroduce herself, says that a church is better than a bar or a store. Shchadey emphasizes that they did not give approval, and it is unacceptable.
