The Pechersk district court in Kyiv granted the Prosecutor General’s Office the permission for conducting special investigation concerning the former arbitration manager and the head of a number of private enterprises suspected of alienating the property of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC.
This was reported to the Ukrinform by the Prosecutor General’s Office in response to a request.
"On August 21, 2018, the Investigative Judge of the Pechersk District Court granted the Prosecutor General’s Office the permission to conduct a special pre-trial investigation into the former arbitration manager and the head of a number of enterprises suspected of seizing the property of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC in particularly large amounts," – the statement reads.
It is noted that the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a criminal case on the alienation of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" property in May 2014.
"The investigation established that the former arbitration manager, following a preliminary collusion with the head of a number of private enterprises in the period of 2013-2014, committed actions aimed at taking over the property of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC belonging to one of the state enterprises during the bankruptcy procedure, what caused losses in the total amount of more than UAH 11 million", – the Prosecutor General’s Office informed.
As a result of the investigation, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in November 2016, the former arbitration manager and the head of a number of enterprises were notified in writing about being suspected of violating part 5 of Art. 191 of the CCU (appropriation and expropriation of property by abuse of office). Later, both suspects were put on wanted list, and subsequently – on the Interpol international wanted list.
According to the source in law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor General’s Office indicted the former arbitration manager Oleksiy Gromchakov and Donetsk businessman Valery Bredikhin. The latter was the owner of the "Carpathian ore company" LLC, which purchased the key assets of the state-owned "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC, in particular, the ore mining and processing plant and the complex of buildings "Vertical mine RE-1".
In October 2017, officers of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Security Service conducted searches at the Muzhiyevo gold deposit and in the premises of the "Carpathian ore company" LLC in Beregovo (Transcarpathian region) as part of the criminal investigation into the appropriation of the property of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC. During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized documents and computer equipment.
Currently, Muzhiyevo deposit is the only explored deposit in Ukraine, where gold used to be extracted.
