Today, on Monday, November 25, a press briefing on the campaign "16 Days Against Violence" was held in the press center of the Regional State Administration. Its symbol is a lilac ribbon.
The Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Olga Travina, the Director of the Department of Social Welfare of the Regional State Administration Mykhailo Petrishka, the Deputy Head of the Preventive Activities Department of the regional police Vadim Sitalo and the Head of the Juvenile Prevention Sector of the regional police Andriy Kurta told about the measures taken to implement legislation in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence, the role of the police in preventing and combating domestic violence, and the plan of the campaign.
The purpose of the briefing was to draw attention to the problem of violence in families.
The briefing started the marathon that will run until December 10. The activities that will take place during this period should help to create conditions to decrease the number of victims of violence against women and children.
This year, the National Police units of the region have received 2,218 reports of domestic violence, which is 14% more than that in the same period in 2018, including: 279 from men, 1,913 from women, and 26 from children.
In the beginning of November this year, a special mobile police group for combating domestic violence was formed in Uzhgorod, which has already made 255 visits.
In the region there are 10 domestic violence mobile groups and 5 more are being formed. There are 3 shelters under public and religious organizations in the city of Uzhgorod and Beregovo district, as well as under a charitable foundation in Mukachevo district. In addition, there are 2 non-specialized institutions that are maintained at the expense of the regional budget.
