The best way to Europe is by bicycle

Last year, the Center for Ukrainian-Hungarian Regional Development received a grant of 250 thousand euros for the construction of two bicycle lanes that will be fitted according to European standards – with signs, markings, crossings and so on. They will be built in the framework of the international project on the stretches of the highway Luzhanka – Astey – Beregovo (5 km) and Vylok – Pyyterfolvo (5 km).Currently, the preparatory phase is completed – this work is performed by the project partner – Road Service in Transcarpathian region.

Actually, these bike routes are only the first fruits, they should serve as the basis for future approvals of city master plans. In the future, they should consider building a bicycle lane along the road Uzhgorod-Mukachevo-Beregovo-Vynogradiv. This is important, says the director of the Center for Ukrainian-Hungarian Regional Development Yosyp Torpoi, not only for tourists. First and foremost this is important for the local population who actively use the two-wheeled transport in everyday life.

Today, in Beregovo tourinfocenter they conduct training for bicycle guides – for the first time in Ukraine. They are assisted by the partner from Hungary – the Association of active tourism.

In March and April, the practical training will begin, Yosyp Torpoi reported to Mukachevo.net. They plan to conduct a bike ride through Transcarpathia and the Carpathian region. The future route will likely unite four countries. The organizers want to include in the tour Slovak city of Kosice, Hungarian Nyiregyhaza and Romanian city of Satu Mare. The center invites all comers. To apply you need to contact Tourinfocenter offices in Uzhgorod or Beregovo.
