The artist of world renown, the famous Transcarpathian Mykola Papp died in the USA

The tragic news that happened these days was reported to fellows by the artist, his friend Istvan Hychko from France. The news of the death was broadcast on the "News Connecticut" channel, published in "Associated Press."

            59-year-old artist, whose work was honored by former U.S. President Bill Clinton, actress Kathleen Turner, was found in Fearfield, near the local reservoir. The police do not believe that this was a violent death, but they are waiting for forensic results.

            The Ukrainian artist moved to the U.S. in 1990. He left the Soviet Union because he sought for greater freedom both personal and creative. In 1993 he met and later married a Bulgarian Irina Semeonova.  Their son, Karl-Alexander is 17.

He was born in Vynogradiv in the Russian-Hungarian family.

After the departure from the Soviet Union, Japan art magazine named Mykola Papp among the five best-known artists of the West.

American actress Kathleen Turner bought his self-portrait, which Papp painted in 1983 in Moscow.

             In 1999, U.S. President Bill Clinton presented the picture by Mykola Papp "Morning Breath" to the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma.

 He painted in graphics and abstract styles.
