The all-Ukrainian campaign “16 days against violence” starts in Transcarpathia

"This is almost 11 percent more than the number of appeals last year. 264 appeals are from men, 2154 appeals are from women and 28 are appeals from children," – Mykhailo Petrishka said.

Neighbors or relatives often call 102 to report domestic violence, said Vadym Sitalo, the deputy head of the Transcarpathian National Police’s prevention department.

"This year, we have opened 60 criminal proceedings about systematic domestic violence, – Vadym Sitalo said. – More than 400 urgent injunctions have been issued against perpetrators of domestic violence."

A mobile domestic violence response group has been operating in Uzhgorod for a year now. The group responds to such calls only. During this year, 1,500 visits to the scene of domestic violence have been made. 700 facts were confirmed.
