The celebrations on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia from fascist invaders took place today in the regional center.
They began at the Ukrainian-Slovak border near the monument "From Ukraine to the Liberators".
The head of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal, the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Petro Hrytsyk, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyiv, the Consul General of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Mojzita, heads of law enforcement agencies, military and veterans laid flowers to the monument.
The solemn laying of flowers took place also at the monument "To volunteers of Transcarpathia – participants of the Second World War" on Cyril and Methodius square and to the Eternal Flame at the Hill of Glory memorial complex. There was also a minute of silence, and soldiers saluted with gunshots.
