The 2nd week of the year: 1237 people in the region have become ill with SARS and influenza

According to the head of the epidemic monitoring and sanitary protection department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in Transcarpathian region Victoria Dordyay, during the 2nd calendar week of 2014, 1237 people have turned to health care institutions of the region about SARS and influenza, which is 567 cases less compared to the previous week. 826 cases (66.8%) are children under 17 years. 7.4% of the total of cases (92 persons) have been hospitalized, of which 76 (82.6%) are children.

The incidence of influenza and SARS among the population of the region is 72.0% below the epidemic threshold and corresponds to the average long-term levels of observation. Epidemic thresholds in administrative units of the region have not been reached.

Since the beginning of the epidemic season, with a view to specific prophylaxis, 4689 persons of health and epidemic risk, including 1360 children have been vaccinated against influenza.
