The 24th Sziget Festival finished with a record number of visitors – nearly half a million people. 496,000 "szigetters" came from more than 100 countries, so almost half of the world was represented in the multicultural Freedom Island.
In addition to the main stages, more than 50 different music and entertainment areas were in the focus during the seven days of the Sziget.
Sziget 2016 significantly exceeded the success of the last year: week tickets for the festival were sold aready in the spring, and the three days of the festival were sold out.
"The number of visitors is becoming more balanced. While in previous years, tickets were sold out mostly for weekends, now the number of our guests has become about equal every day," – Károly Gerendai, the founder and chief organizer of the Sziget said.
Among the visitors of the festival, there were many Transcarpathians who have participated in the event many times.
The date of the anniversary 25th Sziget is already known. It will be held on 9-16 of August, 2017, and ticket sales for it will start very soon.
