Surgeon Yuriy Fatula will present his book about the First World War

On Thursday, June 9, at 17:00 in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library, there will be the presentation of the newly published book by associate professor of UzhNU Yuriy Fatula "And we have not buried the fallen…" which was recently published at the Uzhgorod publishing house "Patent." 

The military-historical study describes the history of the 85th Maramures-Ugocsa Infantry Regiment of the Austro-Hungarian army in the World War I. This regiment was formed on the territory of modern Hungary, Romania and Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. The author of the book used lesser known bibliographic and archival materials, rare photographs and illustrations, including those from private collections. "Objectivity and content of the book is enhanced by the fact that the description of military events is presented from the point of view of various parties, including opposing ones, supported by testimonies from memoirs, diaries of the participants of those tragic events. The martyrology includes 3211 names of the fallen soldiers of the regiment, most of whom are ancestors of modern Transcarpathians," – it is stated in the annotation to the book.

The book will be interesting to historians, ethnographers, military officers and all who care about the history of their native land and their lineage.
