“Streets of ancient Uzhgorod” by Petro Sholtes (PHOTOS)

In Uzhgorod gallery "ArtPro", famous artist, winner of the regional Bokshay and Erdelyi Prize, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Petro Sholtes invited art lovers and friends to his own "Streets of ancient Uzhgorod." This is the title of the artist’s solo exhibition, which will be open to visitors until the end of the month.  

Traditionally, the exhibition was opened by the gallery director Volodymyr Nyorba, and Sandor Schreiner created a special atmosphere by playing tárogató.

Petro Sholtes is actually known to Uzhgorod residents for his works depicting the city. Though, he loves painting Transcarpathian nature too. Like this stream, for exampale, which is exhibited for the first time.  

The artist admitted that he likes painting Uzhgorod, although he is very nostalgic for Ungvar of his youth. "You know, my favourite painting is "Korzo". It used to be so nice there, no one was rushing anywhere, unlike now, people were just talking…" – the artist says.
