Uzhgorod has tasted a cup of truth: a theatrical procession with knights and monks marched from Sandor Petofi square through Teatralna Square, and at the intersection of Voloshin and Korzo streets, the solemn opening of the Holiday of Wine took place.
Today, the first barrel of young wine in Transcarpathia was opened there. Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv and the head of the Union of Private Wine-Growers and Winemakers of Transcarpathia Oleksandr Kovach uncorked the first barrel, the people on the square could taste the wine.
Uzhgorod is intoxicated. New Beaujolais, though does not last long, but has a rich taste and a wonderful aroma.
The festive mood was enhanced by a spectacular fire show from the Dragonfly circus art studio.
The holiday of the new Beaujolais is celebrated all over the world on the third Thursday of November. And in the birthplace of the famous beverage, in the town of Beaujeu in France, the first bottle is opened exactly at midnight – after the twelfth strike of the church of St. Nicholas.
