Prosecutor of Transcarpathia charged and sent to court a criminal investigation into the illegal transportation of persons across the state border, committed by an organized group (Part 2 Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years with confiscation of instrumentalities).
It has been established that in late April, a group of five Transcarpathians, which included a former policeman and a border guard, organized trafficking of four illegal immigrants from Somalia to EU countries.
In exchange of 8.000 USD Transcarpathians had to carry four Somali youths in the trunks of their cars from the village of Orihovytsya in Uzhgorod district to the area in close proximity to the state border – in the village of Stuzhytsa in V. Berezny district. However, police caught them on the way to their destination.
