Snow cover damaged the roof of the dining room in a school in Irshava district (PHOTOS)

On Monday (14.01), in the village of Kolodne (Irshava district), snow partially destroyed the roof of the dining room in the secondary school.

– Old wooden rafters could not hold the load of a thick layer of snow and collapsed, while the slate roof itself was not destroyed, – Hennadiy Moskal says. – The dining room is located separately from the school’s premises, nobody was hurt as a result of the collapse. The classes in the school were not and will not be canceled. Irshava district state administration has already established a commission for documentation of the damages and renovation of the roof.

No other destructions of social, educational or infrastructural facilities in the region due to intense snowfall have been recorded. As of 17.00, nine villages in Khust and Svalyava districts are without electricity supply (five villages are partly devoid of electricity). Emergency crews of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" continue to repair broken power lines. Vehicular traffic through all four passes on the administrative boder of the region is free, albeit hampered.
