The State Border Guard Service continues to guard state borders and counter criminal groups that keep trying to engage in illegal activities at the border.
Thus, yesterday, while checking the information received from the operational unit of the Mukachevo border guard detachment, servicemen of the department "Dilove" found a minibus Volkswagen 50 meters from the border. The driver and passengers tried to escape from the border patrol. During the detention of the offenders, border guards fired warning shots, as a result of which two people possibly involved in illegal activities were detained. Border guards found 13.5 boxes of tobacco products in the vehicle. The offenders planned to deliver 6,750 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps to neighboring Romania. Border guards called National Police and SFS officers to the scene.
The detainees were taken to the border guard unit to carry out filtration measures and draw up reports on administrative offenses.
The criminal offense under Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for sale of excisable goods" was reported to the Main Office of the SFS and the National Police in Transcarpathian region.
The border guards handed over the found tobacco products and the vehicle to the SFS officers.
