Smokers will defend their habit in court (VIDEO)

Halls for smokers in restaurants and cafes will disappear according to the law, as well as the smoking rooms in government. At the same time, the smoking rooms will be necessary in enterprises, hotels, hostels, airports and train stations.

The new law also provides penalties for the smokers as well. Therefore, for smoking in undesignated areas you will have to pay up to 170 hryvnia, and 340 hryvnia if you are caught for the second time during a year.

In its turn, social scientists claim that a quarter of Ukrainians smokes every day. Among them nearly half are men.

Thus, the organization called ‘Rights of smokers’ is going to appeal against an innovation in the court.

‘We are against the smoking at bus stops, we are against the fact that some alcoholics gather and smoke on the playgrounds. But why should we make concessions to those people who go to pub not to smoke and drink?’ – explains the co-founder of the ‘Rights of smokers’ organization Sergii Didkovskyi.

It should be noted that excise duty of tobacco products in Ukraine increased by several times in recent years. For the last time it happened earlier this year when the excise duty increased by 15 percent. But in comparison with many other countries, cigarettes are still much more available in Ukraine.
