“Slovenska veselica” – dancing and singing in Slovak in Perechyn (PHOTOS)

This Sunday, Slovak melodies and singing were heard in the district center of Perechyn. The traditional festival "Slovenska veselica" was held there.

The event changes its venue, choosing different settlements, where Slovak community lives, but does not change its goal. It is the preservation and development of Slovak culture, art and traditions. The festival is organized by the Association "Matica Slovenska". And every time, the festival becomes an exciting event. And so it was this time – with the participation of Transcarpathian groups, that performed Slovak folk songs and dances, as well as guests from Slovakia.

The Slovak community of the Silver Land comprises of almost 6,000 people. Densly populated areas are located in Perechyn, Uzhgorod, Velyky Berezny and Svalyava districts. By the way, there is a Ukrainian-Slovak school in Uzhgorod. Its teacher, Slovak Jan Pochanic was the host of the festival in Perechyn.

In general, the "Slovenska veselica" was attended by about 25 artistic groups. In addition to representetives of the authorities, it was also attended by the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova.
