The checkpoint "Vysne Nemecke – Uzhgorod" is undergoing a complete renovation. This is an initiative of the Slovak Ministry of Finance.
This is due to the fact that after the extension of traffic lanes, the parking area will be reduced, so the Slovak party plans to build a new parking area. A pedestrian walkway will also be made and the reconstructed facility will be suitable for a crossing of the border on foot.
All the planned works are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020, and it is planned to spend almost € 6.5 million on this project. It should also be noted that the reconstruction affects only the Slovak part of the checkpoint.
