Skansen teaches how to embroider fate

Do you want an authentic Transcarpathian embroidered shirt? Do you want to learn the ancient techniques of embroidery and choose symbols for your shirt?

Uzhgorod Skansen has good news for you, they inform on the page of the institution in Facebook.

Soon, the embroidery studio will open there to teach people the basics of embroidery art.

The group will be open for people, regardless of age and gender, who want to make shirts similar to those worn by their grandparents, great-grandparents. During the year, craftswoman Tetyana Kohutych (graduate of Yuriy Melnychuk courses at the Ivan Honchar Museum) will be teaching all the techniques that were characteristic for Transcarpathia embroidery.

Each session will be accompanied with demonstration of models of folk clothes from the fund collection of the museum and a lecture from candidate of historical sciences Vasyl Kotsan on features of traditional folk costumes of our region. The end result of the lessons should be each participant’s finished product (shirt) and the exhibition or show of self-made authentic shirts.
