The regional state administration advises drivers to refrain from long-distance drives, and tourists – from hiking in the mountains
The significant snowfall, which began in Transcarpathia on Sunday (13.01) in the morning, will intensify during the day and night on Monday. In the highlands, snow cover is expected to increase up to 30 centimeters, and in the plain areas, when the temperature decreases, wet snow is expected. The deterioration of weather conditions will cause slush build-up, which in turn can cause tears of transmission lines (ETL) and tree falling.
– Power companies, road services, rescuers and utilities are instructed to have their emergency, repair and rescue crews on high alert and respond promptly to loss of power supply, traffic hindrances, blocking of roads with fallen trees, etc. – Hennadiy Moskal says.
– In view of the deterioration of weather conditions, the Regional State Administration advises drivers to refrain from long-distance drives, and tourists – from hiking in the mountains, where the 4th (penultimate) degree of avalanche hazard has been announced. In addition, we advise not to park cars under roofs and tree branches and, if possible, to clean roofs from snow.
As of 11:00 Sunday, vehicular traffic in Transcarpathian region is hampered, but unimpeded.
