Seven tourist attractions of Uzhgorod

Uzhgorod is a city of contrasts, where the ancient is intertwined with the modern, traditions with innovation, and every time visiting it you find something new. There are so many interesting things in it that you can talk about and write it a lot, but we are offering seven reasons why you should tell Uzhgorod – yes!

1. The nature

Spring is definitely the best time for Uzhgorod. Sakura and lime blossom attracts tourists like bees to pollen. And every yard of the city is a small botanical corner, not to mention the Botanical Garden of Uzhgorod National University, which impresses with its biodiversity! But why only in spring? Uzhgorod is always beautiful!

2. Mini Uzhgorod

It is already a real tourist brand and the main reason to visit Uzhgorod. Several dozens mini sculptures dedicated to well-known personalities and events will make you wander around the city searching for them, having fun time.

3. A history textbook

If you want to quickly go through the pages of history, you can take a walk in the city of Uzhgorod and visit the Middle Ages (Uzhgorod castle), the Austro-Hungarian period (Teatralna Sq.), the Czech period (the Maly Galagov district), the Soviet time (Narodna Sq.).

4. Sacred center

One of the oldest architectural monuments of the region dating back to the X-XI centuries is located in the vicinity of Uzhgorod. But the most interesting thing is probably not the building itself, but its paintings in the style of the Italian school of Giotto.

The Uzhgorod Synagogue is more "modern", but it is also one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. 

5. Walking

Walk along Nezalezhnist embankment, turn to Korzo, then you can go to Petofi or Koryatovich square. You can choose your own route, because Uzhgorod is just made for promenades.

6. Center of centers

One of the most recognizable places in Uzhgorod is the pedestrian bridge. People meet there, declare love to each other, feed ducks, and arrange river regattas. And the bridge itself is an interesting historical monument.

7. Cultural center

Even if you already have been in Uzhgorod or live in the city, you should visit the castle and the open-air museum located next to it every year. Holidays, master classes, exhibitions and other events, that are held there, will not leave you indifferent.
