According to the Security Service of Ukraine, they identified and detained the organizer of heroin smuggling to the European Union, which the Security Service shut down in Transcarpathia at the end of last year.
Recall that last November at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", law enforcement officers found a large batch of heavy drugs hidden in a truck, in sheets of glued plywood. The total weight of the seized drugs was 374 kilograms.
According to a preliminary version of the investigators, drug trafficking was organized by a foreigner, the owner of a Kyiv firm specializing in the provision of intermediary services for sales of industrial goods abroad.
The wanted businessman was detained in one of the southern regions of Ukraine, where he was hiding from law enforcement.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Art. 15 (attempted crime), Part 3 of Art. 305 (smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit medicines) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the foreigner was taken into custody.
The measures to shut down drug trafficking were carried out by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region under the procedural control of the regional prosecutor’s office.
