Experts and employees of the service center in Uzhgorod registered cars without owners and forged signatures for a financial reward.
According to Vitaliy Glagola’s Telegram channel, the deputy chief of the Research Forensic Center Rostislav Penzyanyk was detained.
Employees of the service center were not detained, but documents with forged signatures were confiscated.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, the official has devised a scheme for obtaining money from vehicle owners. In return for various amounts of illegal benefits, he "guaranteed" positive reports of inspection and verification of the conformance of car identification numbers. It is known that he demanded about UAH 16 thousand for that.
The defendant also promised his clients to ensure state registration of their vehicles out of turn. Law enforcement officer caught the official in the regional center while he was receiving a part of a bribe. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During the searches in the office premises of the research forensic center, they found documents that confirm the illegal activities.
Investigative measures to bring to justice other persons involved in the illegal activities are being taken within the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The operation to expose corruption schemes was carried out jointly with investigators of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region under the procedural control of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
