The NGO "Pro Arte Muncacs", with the support of Bethlen Gábor Olop foundation and the thermal spa Kosyno, for the second time organized in Transcarpathia an international sculpture symposium. The event, that provides an opportunity for young and talented sculptors of the Carpathian region to present themselves, started a few days ago in Kosyno of Beregovo district."From a pure well" is the theme of this year’s event, which runs until 28 of August.
"In today’s world, which progresses quickly, our goal is to preserve our national identity, leave our mark in the XXI century through sculptures, monuments and architectural structures in Transcarpathian villages and towns, – the organizer, Transcarpathian sculptor Arpad Matl said. – At the same time, it is the development of culture, rural tourism and strengthening of international relations between border villages and towns of Transcarpathia and Hungary."
Mr. Matl says that the sculptures, that will be created during the symposium, will be given to local communities of the villages of Zapson, Rafaynovo, Byihan, Shom and Popovo. And they, in turn, are obliged to prepare the place for the sculptures, as well as recreation areas near them.
The artists invite everyone to visit the symposium, to watch them working. According to one of the symposium participants, a sculptor ftom Mukachevo Petro Matl, in addition to him, seven sculptors from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania take part in the event. Ukraine is represented by artists from Kyiv and Mukachevo.
