The mini sculpture of Schweik was re-installed on the railing by the river
Uzhgorod patriots Professor Fedir Shandor, pastry chef Valentin Shtefanyo, sculptors Stepan Rusnak and Roman Murnyk with the support of entrepreneurs Pavlo Chuchka and Oleksandr Lyakhin installed a new mini-sculpture of Schweik at the same spot where it was located previously.
The event was commented on by journalist Vitaliy Glagola:
– There is some good news among the mostly bad ones. Recently I wrote that Schweik, that had been sitting on the railing in Uzhgorod for several years with a knedlik in his hands, was stolen. Well, while some are stealing, others are restoring. Thanks, guys!
As we reported, the mini-sculptures continue to disappear in Uzhgorod, the last such incident happened with Schweik.
According to Fedir Shandor, this time the sculpture of Schweik was secured on the railing more reliably and hopefully vandals will no longer be able to rip it off.
