Schoolchildren were taught to plan a budget

People manage personal funds differently: some manage their budget successfully, and others always lack money. The financial issue is particularly important for children. So, every parent sooner or later face the problem of how to teach teens to plan their expenses. Now, however, the state joined the financial education of the younger generation. Thus, the National Bank of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education, as well as the "Private Bank" and "Platinum Bank" organized special sessions at summer camps – they are based on school courses "Financial competence" and "Financial education". Currently, more than one thousand Ukrainian students have taken part in this project.

As you can see, the children not only had a good rest during July, but also spent that time with use. Volunteer teachers, graduates and postgraduate students of the University of banking of the NBU, experts of the "Private Bank" and the "Platinum Bank" taught children how to manage money properly, spend it wisely and how to earn their own first money.   To date, the project has been implemented in the Crimea, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporozhzhya, Vinnytsya, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Khmelnytsky regions.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Valeriy Prokhorenko such lessons are extremely important for students, because financial competence must be formed in childhood.Later, it will affect family relations, help make informed decisions about keeping the family budget and savings.

"Financially educated person is the key to economically strong state and its financial development, including the welfare of every family and citizen", – Prokhorenko says.

And according to the Head of the Corporate Communications department of the "Platinum Bank" Victoria Mikhno, the useful knowledge should be acquired at a young age, then the right attitude to money will become a habit.

"Kids absorb new information easily, especially during holidays in summer camp environment when the new knowledge is acquired during games," – Victoria Mikhno said.

Representatives of the "Private Bank" also noted that they were glad to support the initiative of the National Bank to teach students in summer camps. After all, the generation brought up in a new country and new environment, must know the value of money and understand the importance of its accounting.
