Yesterday we already briefly reported that the SBU had caught an official of the State Migration Service of Transcarpathia on taking bribes, and here is full information in detail. The Security Service of Ukraine documented the systematic receipt of bribes by the Deputy Head of a department of the Main Office of the State Migration Service in Transcarpathian region. According to preliminary investigation data, the official demanded from local residents money for the "accelerated" procedure of issuance of travel passports. The operatives of the special service found out that the official had demanded almost 15,000 hryvnias for eight documents. Law enforcement officers detained the official in her office according to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine when she was receiving part of the illegal benefit. She is charged with a crime under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions to identify and prosecute other persons involved in the crimes are underway.
