Sakura without borders: the Japanese liked the Ukrainian Tokyo

Uzhgorod sakuras can not but thrill. The head of the National Police Serhiy Knyazev told how last year he planted Japanese cherries in Transcarpathia together with the Minister-Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine Michio Harada, regretting that he could not come and see the pink and white flowers himself.

Meanwhile, the Minister-Counselor Michio Harada decided to come to Uzhgorod for the second time to see if the sakuras donated by the Japanese government have taken roots. And it turned out that the sakuras planted on Svoboda Avenue in Uzhgorod during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Japan are blooming.

Bohdan Andriyiv told the guest that the Sakura Fest is taking place in Uzhgorod with great success, these days, the city has been visited by many tourists, who come to the regional center of Transcarpathia specifically to admire the flowering of the Japanese cherries. 

The mayor suggested to hold Japanese Culture Days annually during the sakura flowering.

The Deputy Head of Mission, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, Michio Harada thanked Bohdan Andriyiv for the meeting, said that the day before, April 23, he had delivered lectures for students of the history and international relations faculties of the Uzhgorod National University. One of the lectures attended by the Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine, Marie Jovanovic.
