“Sakura Fest” has started in Uzhgorod

The first of the sakura-themed festivals in the regional center of Transcarpathia – the festival of chamber theater art "Under the cherry blossom" – started yesterday in the evening.

All seven performances of the festival will be taking place until April 26 inclusive, every night and only on the small stage of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Sherehiy brothers.

Yesterday, the festival opened with a brave production of a young director Valeria Horodetska with a trio of young actors – Polina Snitsarenko, Oleksiy Nahrudny, Anna Bashcheva of Kyiv Academic Young Theater based on the play by Vadim Levanov.

After the performance, the actors and the audience were greeted by the head of the regional department of culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Victoria Frolova, the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Bilak, the theater director Vasyl Maryukhnych. They said that the festival may become a traditional.

Today, at 19.00, spectators are invited to see "Heir" staged by the Regional Music and Drama Theater, then the audience will have opportunity to see productions of Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater, National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesya Ukrainka, Kyiv Academic Theater "The Wheel".

Also, the festival Sakura Wine starts today. Winemakers, cheese makers invite to a three-day holiday with tastings, lectures and workshops in the "Owl’s Nest" in Uzhgorod.
