Russia launches deadly missile strike on Sumy on Palm Sunday: 21 killed, over 80 injured

On Sunday, April 21, Russian forces carried out a massive missile attack on the city center of Sumy, Ukraine. The strike took place on Palm Sunday, one of the most significant Christian holidays.

According to the State Emergency Service and local authorities, at least 21 people were killed and more than 80 injured in the attack. The victims are civilians, including women and children. Residential buildings, commercial properties, and public infrastructure were heavily damaged.

Preliminary reports indicate that ballistic missiles were used in the strike, causing large-scale destruction. The attack was deliberate and not aimed at any military targets.

This assault comes amid ongoing negotiations between Russian officials and U.S. representatives regarding a possible ceasefire. Analysts warn that Russia may be using these diplomatic efforts as cover while continuing its campaign of violence.

Just days earlier, Russian missiles also killed children in Kryvyi Rih. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has consistently targeted Ukrainian civilian areas under the guise of a so-called “special military operation.”

This latest tragedy is further evidence that the Putin regime is not seeking peace, but rather continuing its campaign of terror and genocide against the Ukrainian people.
