Roads strewing will soon be over, at night they will be removing the snow – city officials say

Uzhgorod is covered with the snow – a real winter did come to the regional center, obviously, upsetting public utilities. uzhgorod.in already informed about local "disasters", such as problems on Kapitulna st. Therefore we asked the city officials (who, by the way, were sending messages with a request to remove the snow from the surrounding area, as well as cars from roads) – how the removal of the snow is going on? The head of the Department of Municipal Economy Oleksiy Kasperov, who is responsible for this issue, did not answer to reporters. However, the first Deputy Mayor Vitaliy Semal commented on the situation.

First, he said that city roads were being strewn with special mixture, the strewing would end at 16.30.   And later in the evening they would start to clear snow that would melt from the contact with the mixture.

In general, according to Semal, 10 pieces of equipment are working in the city: 2 graders, 4 tractors, 2 strewing machines and 2 combined road machines; about 250 people are involved. Tractors clean the city center and sidewalks.  Vitaliy Semal said the city has enough salt, fuel and lubricants for the job – just enough to March. If necessary, the military will be involved.   

As for the situation on Kapitulna street, he said: "Yes, we know about this problem. But utilities say that they can not risk sending the machines there. I ordered smaller tractor to go up there and clean out as much as possible, and strew the street manually. But, to be honest, I have not had time to check. Right now I am going to inspect the city, and I will go there." Vitaliy Semal again asked to remind residents of Uzhgorod that cars parked at night on sideways interfere with large snowplows, so if possible they should be removed.
