A few days before the start of the football championship Euro-2012 road workmen in Transcarpathia have finally started clearing up the roads. Particular attention is paid to those parts of the highway that border with the state borders. As uzhgorod.in noticed today, the most active “perking up” is taking place near the customs post in Chop and at the Ukrainian-Slovak border near Uzhgorod. Road markings have been refreshed there (so far only one side of the road though, and in some places they only marked the central line), bridges are being painted and cleaned and tall grass is being mowed along the road. However we failed to see the actual repair. And what is being done already prevents normal movement of drivers and does not always meet the requirements of security.
Hopefully, brand new road markings will not be washed off until the end of the championship. Experience shows that "the road make-up" on our roads is very unstable and in a few months not even a part of it will remain.
