On May 12-13, fencing competitions among men within the World Cup round took place in the French capital

In the individual events, 10 Ukrainian fencers started competing: Bohdan Nikishin,Yevhen Myrhorodsky, Igor Reyzlin, Maxim Khvorost, Ian Sych, Yuriy Taranenko, Volodymyr Stankevich, Roman Svichkar, Yevhen Makienko and our countryman Anatoliy Herey. 

However, only Anatoliy Herey, Bohdan Nikishin, Yevhen Myrhorodsky and Igor Reyzlin were competing in the top 64. 

And unfortunately, all our boys laid down their arms before reaching the top 16. The Uzhgorod fencer lost to Hoyle from USA – 9:15.

In the end, Igor Reyzlin showed the best result by finishing at the 25th place, Yevhen Myrhorodsky – at the 31st, and Anatoliy Herey – at the 32nd. The leader of the national team Bohdan Nikishin finished the 35th. The full final results are HERE

On May 14, the World Cup team competitions began. Without the leader of the national team Bohdan Nikishin, our fencers – Anatoliy Herey, Volodymyr Stankevich, Maxim Khvorost and Roman Svechkar – have made it to the semifinals! 

Thus, today, our fencers defeated Turkey (45:31), USA (43:36) and in a tense quarterfinal defeated the Russians – 28:23.

Next is the semifinal match with the Italian team. Keep your fingers crossed! 13:30, red carpet.
