Residents of Transcarpathia owe almost 63 million hryvnia for gas consumed

Debts gof as consumers are increasing due to the difficult access to government housing subsidies, amid increasing gas prices. Due to the reduction of gas consumption rates for calculation of subsidies, many people have lost the right to such social support.

As of March 1, 2015, the debt of household consumers in Transcarpathian region for gas consumed exceeded 62.5 million hryvnia. Because of inadequate legislation, it is difficult for the "Zakarpathaz" PJSC to stop growing debt.

"We have to resort to forced measures – after written notices, to disconnect debtors from gas supply. Today, it is though radical, but the only effective way to collect debts for gas", – the chairman of the "Zakarpathaz" PJSC Vitaliy Shatylo said.

As of mid-March, more than 2.6 thousand individual consumers in the region have been disconnected from the supply. The above measures are the last argument of the company in pretrial settlement of disputes for debt repayment.
