Residents of the region celebrate 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus – RSA

The Head of Minorities and Religions Department of the RSA Yuri Huzynets told reporters about the main events that have been and will be held in the region to celebrate the anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus:

– The 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus is celebrated in Ukraine.  Transcarpathian region – government agencies and local authorities, clergy, believers of all Christian denominations – also joined to the celebration of this event. Those are almost 1,700 religious organizations of 22 Christian denominations in the region.

Thus, in the region, in the 2012-2013 school year, interviews and themed events on the baptism of Kyiv Rus have been conducted in schools. In May, there were concerts with representatives of various religious denominations.

May 28, in Uzhgorod there was the Scientific Conference on "Inter-ethnic and interfaith tolerance as a factor in the consolidation of Ukrainian society: the experience of Transcarpathia", and on July 11, at the RSA there was solemn assembly dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus.

Currently, cultural events, dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus, continue in the region.

The culminating day of commemorating the anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus is July 26. On this day the delegation of Transcarpathian region will join the governmental activities in the National Palace "Ukraine" (Kyiv) dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the baptism. On the same day, at 19.00, in the regional museum there will be a concert of sacred music involving Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir and academic chamber choir "Cantus", and on July 28 in the temples of the region there will be holiday worship on the occasion of the Christianization of the Kyiv Rus.
