On February 5, the flood maximum formed near the post Verkhni Remety on the Borzhava river – more than 5 meters, that poses the threat of flooding to several villages in Beregovo district. The Borzhava burst its banks on the floodplain between the dams, the Mukachevo.net informs.
Also the water level on the Tisa rose by 1 meter near the village of Halabor, where the height of dams is 5-6 meters.
Therefore, to prevent flooding in the villages of Verkhni and Nyzhni Remety. it was decided to reinforce with sandbags the lowest part of the dam on the Borzhava river.
Residents of the villages also took part in the work. The management of the district would like to thank the communities of the villages of Verkhni Remety and Nyzhni Remety for help in carrying out flood protection works and keeps the situation under constant control.
Currently, in most rivers, water levels are lowering, but in low-lying areas of the Latorytsya and Borzhava river, water remains high, exceeding the third degree of flood protection – water breaks onto the floodplain.
On 6-7 of February, on the Latorytsya and Tisa rivers near Chop, water levels will increase. On the Latorytsya – up to 0.4-0.7 m, and on the Tisa – up to 1.2-1.8 m.
Specifically, on the Tisa river from the state border to the village of Esen in Uzhgorod district, a big ice jam about 2.5 km long has formed. According to experts, there is no threat of flooding.
On 8-10 of February, due to the cold, stabilization of water levels on the rivers of the Carpathian region and continued ice-forming processes are expected.
